Specific objectives of the 1st execution phase

Within the MERLIN project, we have successfully accomplished the first execution phase, Development of the „ENTERPRISE” level of the simulation and planning system.

Troughout this phase, our main objectives were:

  • Study of modelling and planning issues in the semiconductor industry

    • Study of production facilities in the semiconductor industry
    • Study of the modelling and simulation methods

o   Analysis of various approaches in  scientific publications

o   Analysis of various commercial simulation applications

    • Study of planning methods
  • Development of the simulation and planning model at the ENTERPRISE level

    • Elaboration of a simplified IT method of production facilities
    • Elaboration of simulation methods
    • Employment of planning techniques based on priority rules
    • Proposing advanced algorithms for production planning using the IT method

  • Achievement of the simulation and planning stage at ENTERPRISE level

    • Implementation of the simplified experimental IT model
    • Simulation of the production using sample data
    • Implementation of the planning algorithms
  • Experimenting the model at ENTERPRISE level

    • Running the simulation model on known problems and comparison of the obtained results with the data specified in the problems solution
    • Comparative study of planning algorithms
    • Drawing conclusions from the results
  • Elaborating the technical documentation for the MERLIN – ENTERPRISE prototype

    • Definition of the development process and of the applications
    • Development of the modelling, simulation and planning test – case file structure used with the MERLIN product
    • Documentation of the structure
  • Projection, implementation and testing of the MERLIN – ENTERPRISE system prototype

    • Standardisation of the input – output interfaces
    • Implementation of the modelling, simulation and planning test – case file
    • Implementation of the input – output data structure
    • Implementation of the demonstrative resources models
    • Implementation of the planning components
  • Obtaining of the services necessary for the development of the project

    • Signing a service contract, which involved:

o   market survey services regarding simulation and optimisation services

o   consultancy services for the training on applied technologies in the production area

    • Execution of the services stated in the contract by the provider

  • Training for new employees

    •   Training on applied technologies in the production area
    •   Training on development technologies applied during the project
