Simulation Model Development for Other Domains

acp-IT offers simulation model development in a large variety of domains. Besides airport terminals, manufacturing facilities and construction sites, railway network operation and supply chain optimization problems were modeled and solved with the help of AnyLogic and the InFrame Synapse Simulation Suite.

Railway Network Operation

With the simulation of rail networks, complex problems regarding logistic, infrastructure as well as the assignment of trains and vehicles can be solved. In doing so, the railway network is considered as a network of segments, signals, switches and cross-overs. By using specialized libraries (e.g. the AnyLogic Rail Yard Library) the model development time for large networks can be reduced significantly Following problems were considered in completed projects:

  • Determination of route and station capacities
  • Calculation of detailed timetables
  • Robustness evaluation of timetables (e.g. by Monte-Carlo simulation)
  • System behavior derivation caused by failures (e.g. train or infrastructure failures) and delays
  • Power consumption estimation for railway operation

Supply Chain Optimization

Large supply chains are often the result of long-grown business processes combined with a high number of products and complex product structures. The analysis of such supply chains is complicated by changing behavior of the participants, complex supply chain networks as well as uncertain order behavior of the end customers.

AnyLogic can be considered as an ideal basis for supply chain analyses, since bottlenecks and dynamic influences, e. g. orders, varying capacities and breakdowns, can easily be incorporated. The analysis results are suitable for a subsequent derivation of concrete measures for supply chain optimizations.
